They’re gonna have 500 and 500b hp models. A sub 400 b
hp and economical 300 b
hp are on the horizon. No 2 door or GT versions will be made.
The top perfroming Taycan Turbo’s 0-60 times will be “well below” 3.5 seconds.
All models will do at least 155mph with a 2-speed gearbox, similar to the i8.
Range (not sure for which model) will be 310 miles on paper.
Porsche’s 800V charging system will recharge the Taycan from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes.

“well below” I sure hope so! The Model S Performance w/ Ludicrous (LOL) will do it in 2.4!

Hey, given that current non-turbo 911s are turbo too, what’s the matter with labeling an EV as turbo?
Words have no meaning anymore, haven’t you heard? Fake news!
![]() 03/28/2019 at 16:30 |

No surprise. The E911 is coming to fill the 2 door slot, and a full electric is way to heavy for a GT model.

True but the Porsche will likely not be build like a 90s Hyundai.

I can't wait for the four door Coupe Turbo convertible with the landau roof.

And then there’s the roadster.....
God I hope that thing makes it to production

I don’t think they can not build it at this point, considering the money they’ve taken and the promises they’ve made.
——-
Pre-order marketing
Pre-orders of the Roadster began in 2017, with a US$50,000 deposit required. Tesla owners taking part in the referral promotion program began accumulating discounts toward the purchase of a Roadster based on the number of referrals. Those reaching 55 confirmed referrals obtained a 100% rebate toward a future Roadster purchase.
Price
The base model was expected to sell for US $200,000 but the first 1,000 to be produced, the so-called Founder’s Series, will be priced at $250,000. Full payment would be required to pre-order the latter vehicle.

7,400 lb- ft at the wheels.

This jumped out at me as well. Elicited a major eye roll.

1.9 second 0-60 and 600 mile range. Hopefully that trickles down to a lower priced sports car!
Given their current priorities, It’s odd to think that for years Nissan was the king of batshit crazy acceleration...

My 4.5 to 60 (assuming I get everything right!) seems slooow now.
On paper, anyway.

Wait. The non-turbo 911s are turbo?

According to the article, they want to keep things familiar.
At this point, the Turbo moniker has lost its meaning. All 911s are turbo anyway.

I mean, it won't be called a Taycan.

But i n the end, it really is the sensation of speed that matters.

Ha yup. Even the base Carrera is turbocharged now.
![]() 03/28/2019 at 22:33 |

Oh of course.
Look I sort of get that. Turbo is a trim level.
But when they’re EVs and the car doesn’t have an actual turbocharger...you can’t call it that! S urely! At what point is it false advertising?

I actually like at the wheels better as a measurement of torque, because it removes gearing from the equation . However, 7400 lb-ft looks less impressive when compared to some ICE cars.
The original Hellcat, for instance, has (manual) 650 * 2.26 * 3.70 = 5435 lb-ft at the wheel hubs (where Tesla’s measuring it, I believe, not at the tire tread) . Or, with an automatic, not counting any torque converter effects that multiply torque, 650 * 4.71 * 2.62 = 8021 lb-ft .
